estate olive treesThe Spottswoode Estate is bordered by roughly one hundred and fifteen olive trees, ranging in age from ten to eighty years old. We have chosen to propagate our trees both for their inherent beauty and because they are so perfectly adapted to this area. Like our grapevines, our olive trees are farmed organically and are certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).
Since 2010, we have contracted with Ted and Laddie Hall from Long Meadow Ranch to press our olives for us. Their commitment to organic farming mirrors ours and their pressing facility is a wonderful juxtaposition of the traditional and modern, which renders an extra virgin olive oil of the highest possible quality. We are pleased to contribute to Long Meadow Ranch’s Napa Valley Olive Oil blend and to be among those who are bringing deserved attention to Napa Valley olive oils.

Olive trees have had a long history here in California, with the earliest plantings recorded by a Franciscan missionary in 1769 in San Diego.
