Beth Novak Milliken, President & CEO
Beth Novak Milliken is the President & CEO of Spottswoode Vineyard and Winery, having joined forces with her mother in the fall of 1987. After graduating from high school in St. Helena, she attended college at UCLA with no plan to be a part of the wine industry or to return to Napa Valley. It was during her junior year studying in Europe that her interest in wine developed. Beth graduated with a degree in economics, after which she worked for four years as a sales representative for a wine brokerage company based in San Francisco. She came to work at Spottswoode just after its inception, arriving here just as the 1984 Cabernet was released in 1987. In addition to overseeing their family business, Beth is a past (and first woman!) President of the Napa Valley Vintners Association, and she participates in numerous volunteer and philanthropic events. Beth and her Mother, Mary Novak, were Honorary Chairs of Auction Napa Valley 2010, which was a great success and raised upwards of $8,500,000, which benefits many nonprofits in Napa Valley. On a personal level, she derives great enjoyment from her two sons and, ever dedicated to health and fitness, involves herself in many outdoor sports activities, some of them with her husband, John. Among her favorites are mountain biking, telemark skiing and hiking.

“This Estate has been part of our family for over 30 years and we’ve worked hard to honor its legacy through careful preservation of the land and its historic buildings. How we care for the soil, water, and plants comes back to us, every year. With each vintage, we taste the wisdom of our commitment to organic farming.”
