Rosemary Cakebread began making the wines for Spottswoode with the 1997 vintage, and in 2006 she assumed the role of Consulting Winemaker. A graduate of UC Davis in 1979, Rosemary brings over twenty-five years of experience in the production of wines and embraces the philosophy that vineyards are the essence in the creation of distinctive wines. When not making wine, Rosemary can be found enjoying her family, hiking, running, or pursuing her other creative outlet, photography.

“I was initially drawn to Spottswoode because of their commitment to organic farming, which was a pretty novel idea in 1997. Of course it was also an opportunity to make wines from one of the blue chip properties in the valley. Now, looking back, I feel fortunate to be here doing what I love, working with and meeting such special people—so many of my professional relationships have transcended into personal ones.”
