2022 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc

The iconic Napa producer fermented this Sauvignon Blanc in French oak, small stainless steel barrels, clay amphora, and ceramic and concrete cuves. Intense sweet peach aromas leap forth, followed by tarragon, sea foam and lemon zest notes. The palate is fresh with pronounced citrus flavours, followed by ripe apricot and briny minerality. 93 points (May 4, 2023)

A flinty, herbaceous aroma leads to nicely layered flavors of citrus, ginger and limestone in this complex, subtle and fascinating wine. Nervy acidity braces the ample herb and fruit flavors for an especially energized mouthfeel. 94 points (October 2023)

Vinography, Alder Yarrow

Pale greenish gold in the glass, this wine smells of passionfruit and green apples with a hint of white flowers. In the mouth, bright green apple and passionfruit flavors have a nice lemon-lime citrus note to them as well, with a silky texture and excellent acidity. Crisp, fresh, and delicious. A combination of fruit from Napa and Sonoma Counties with 2% Semillon in the blend. 13.9% alcohol. Between 9 and 9.5 points (August 2023)

The 2022 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc has 2% Semillon blended in and comes from mainly vineyards in Napa County, with roughly 40% coming from Sonoma County sites. The nose is brilliant right now with pink grapefruit blossom, lime zest and salted cashew nut notes. The palate is fresh and viscous with a seamless texture and great sense of weight, as well as underlying tension. This is absolutely delicious stuff to consume now, as this 2022 bottling has some good aging potential as well. 94 points (June 22, 2023)
